Rooibos Red Tea - Del Colle
Rooibos, also known as African red tea, is a beverage made by infusing the dried leaves of Aspalathus linearis, a South African shrub. The term “rooibos” means “red bush” in the local language (Afrikaans), highlighting the reddish color of the drink.
Although it is called tea, rooibos is not a true tea because it does not come from the tea plant (Camellia Sinensis). However, it shares several characteristics with tea, such as preparation methods (infusion of dried and crushed leaves), flavor, and various nutraceutical properties.
Rooibos has a pleasant, slightly sweet taste and is less bitter than green and black tea. This is due to its modest tannin content and the absence of caffeine.
