Red Rooibos Tea - Del Colle
Rooibos, also known as African red tea, is a beverage made by infusing the dried leaves of Aspalathus linearis, a shrub native to South Africa. The term “rooibos” means “red bush” in the local language (Afrikaans), highlighting the beverage’s crimson color.
Although it is called tea, rooibos is not a true tea because it does not come from the tea plant (Camellia Sinensis). However, it shares several characteristics with tea, such as its preparation method (infusing dried and shredded leaves), flavor, and various nutraceutical properties.
Rooibos has a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor and is less bitter than green and black tea This is due to its modest tannin content and absence of caffeine.
